City of Sequim seeking applicants for board, commission positions

The Sequim City Council is seeking applicants to fill open positions on several city boards and commissions — including the Planning Commission, arks, Arbor and Recreation Advisory Board, and the City Arts Advisory Commission

Applications for all positions are available at the Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., and at www.sequimwa.gov.

Submit applications to City Clerk Karen Kuznek-Reese at the Sequim Civic Center or electronically at kkuznek@sequimwa.gov. The positions are open until filled.

City Arts Advisory Commission

This commission serves as an advisory body to the City of Sequim in connection with cultural and artistic endeavors and projects. The commission meets the third Monday of the month at 3 p.m.

Arts Commission members are appointed upon the basis of demonstrated interest in — and knowledge and support of — the arts.

This four-year term expires in December 2021. Applicants must be a resident within the Clallam County boundaries of the Sequim School District.

Parks, Arbor and Recreation Advisory Board

This board advises the City Council on issues involving City parks and public spaces and has two vacancies. The board meets the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Terms expire on June 30, 2019, and June 30, 2021.

The positions are open to residents within the Sequim city limits.

Planning Commission

This voluntary commission serves as the City Council’s primary advisory body on policies, regulations, and capital spending related to growth and development, and may also conduct proceedings on specific land use applications such as subdivisions. The commission meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, with meetings lasting one to two hours; the only extra time commitment is to review meeting materials to be prepared for commission discussion and to attend infrequent public meetings and events as an observer.

This four-year term expires in January 2021. Applicants must reside in the Clallam County boundaries of the Sequim School District.
