Clallam County seeks volunteers for boards, committees

Clallam County is seeking volunteers to fill 116 vacancies on 27 advisory boards and committees.

The deadline to apply is the close of business Friday, Nov. 9.

To apply, call the commissioners’ office at 360-417-2233; visit their office at the Clallam County Courthouse, Suite 4, 223 E. Fourth St.; or download an application from the county website, www.clallam.net.

Descriptions of the advisory panels — and the application form itself — are available under the “Boards, Committees and Groups” link on the county website.

Vacancies exist on the following advisory panels, with specific categories listed where applicable:

• Agricultural Commission (6 vacancies) — Openings for representatives of Farmer in Commissioner Districts 1, 2 and 3, an at-large farmer, and two non-farmer at-large.

• Animal Issues Advisory Committee (8) — Openings for a representative of Districts 1, 2, and 3, tribal government, veterinarian, equine, at-large and Friends of Forks Animals.

• Board of Health (2) — Openings for representatives of a City Council Member and Hospital District Commissioner.

• Boundary Review Board (3) — Openings for two representatives of governor appointee and special district appointee.

• Building Code Board of Appeals (4) — Openings for representatives for two alternates, general contractor, and an ICC-certified building official, building inspector or plans examiner.

• Carlsborg Community Advisory Council (5) — Openings for representatives of resident of a manufactured/mobile home park community with in Carlsborg UGA, business or real property owner within the U.S. Highway 101 commercial zone, business or real property owner within the Carlsborg Village Center and two at-large member who are real property owners within the UGA boundary.

• Chemical Dependency/Mental Health Program Fund Advisory Board (10) — Opening for arepresentatives of City Law Enforcement, Hospital District, Agency delivering subsidized mental health services, Agency delivering subsidized chemical dependency services, Private provider of mental health services not contracting for funding, Private provider of chemical dependency services not contracting for funding, Advocate for chemical dependency/mental health services, Services for homeless, At-large and Salish Behavioral Health Organization.

• Clallam Bay/Sekiu Sewer Advisory Committee (2)

• Crescent Community Advisory Council (5)

• Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee (8)

• Fair Advisory Board (2) — Opening for representatives for communities of Sequim and Dungeness and City of Port Angeles.

• Heritage Advisory Board (2) — Openings for two representatives of District 1.

• Homelessness Task Force (13) — Openings for representatives of HHS Department, City Government, Tribal Government, Peninsula Housing Authority, Mental Health/Chemical Dependency Providers, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Providers, West End Service Providers, Olympic Community Action Programs, WorkSource, (2) Homeless or Formerly Homeless, At-large, and Advocate for Youth Issue.

• Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (1) — Opening for the collector of the tax.

• Marine Resources Committee (1) — Opening for a representative of marine trade.

• North Olympic Library System (1)

• North Pacific Coast Marine Resources (1) — Openings for a Clallam County Citizen, conservation/environmental groups.

• Olympic Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council (1)

• Opportunity Fund Board (3) — Openings for a representative from City of Sequim, District I and District II.

• Park and Recreation Advisory Board (1)

• Permit Advisory Board (5) — Openings for representatives of building designer, building trades, environmental consultant, propane/wood stove contractor, and Manufactured Homes/Mobile Home Association.

• Planning Commission (3) — Openings for representatives of District I c, District II b and District III c.

• Port Crescent Pioneer Cemetery (1)

• Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Committee (9) — Openings for representatives of City of Sequim, Clallam Bay/Sekiu, Forks and unincorporated area, Quileute Tribe, Makah Tribe, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, law and justice, and two at-large.

• Solid Waste Advisory Committee (5) — Openings for representatives of solid waste industry (West Waste Recycling) alternate, solid waste industry (Waste Connection), tribal government alternate, City of Forks alternate and business community alternate.

• Trails Advisory Committee (14) — Opening for representatives of Sequim Area Trails Advocacy Group, Port Angeles Area Trails Advocacy Group, Western Area Trails Advocacy Group, Straits Area Trials Advocacy, Olympic National Park, Department of Natural Resources, Large Private Forest Company, City of Port Angeles, City of Sequim, Backcountry Horsemen (Alternate), Off-Road Motorized User Groups, U.S. Forest Service (ex-officio member), Backcountry Horsemen and Peninsula Trails Coalition.
