County elections department to test voting system

Clallam County Elections will be conducting logic and accuracy tests beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in preparation of the upcoming 2017 General Election.

The testing on the Accessible Voting Unit (AVU) and Vote Tabulation System is open to all candidates, the press and public to attend.

It will be conducted in the Elections Center, located on the basement level of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. 4th St., Port Angeles. Elections officials from the Washington Secretary of State’s Office will be present at the Vote Tabulation System testing.

Logic and Accuracy tests are conducted prior to each election to verify that the system will correctly count votes cast for all candidates and all measures appearing on the ballot.

The General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 7. Ballots will be mailed to all registered Clallam County voters on Oct. 18.
