Clallam County Environmental Health reminds Clallam County septic owners that there are only two months left to take advantage of the septic rebate program. Rebates of $100 are available for On-Site Septic System (OSS) work performed from Nov. 20, 2016 through March 20 and while funds are available. Residential and commercial OSS owners in Clallam County who have their septic system professionally located or inspected are eligible for the rebate (inspections for the sale of property not included). The program is part of a larger project to identify and locate all septic systems in all of Clallam County but particularly in the Marine Recovery Area in the east end of the county.

Current regulations require the county to know the location of all septic systems and also require all septic systems to be inspected at least every three years for gravity systems and annually for all other septic systems. The priority for rebates is septic systems that do not have records of the septic system and require a system locate and inspection; older septic systems for which records exist but there are no records of inspection; and properties for which records exist but are not current on inspection. Installation of risers may also be considered for rebate if there are funds still available after rebates for system locates and inspections have been processed.
