First cut of the season: Lavender harvest begins in Sequim

Lavender season is upon us as local lavender farms begin to harvest the first plants of the year. At the B&B Family Farm, 5883 Old Olympic Highway, the Torres family works together to cut the farm’s first bundles of Folgate on June 26. Zion Hilliker, the farm’s co-owner, said they’ll work together to harvest the lavender species for two-three days and hang it in the farm’s barn. Hilliker said he anticipates progressively harvesting more species after the Sequim Lavender Weekend at July 19-21. This is the fourth year the Torres family has worked together to help harvest the farm’s lavender.
