‘Fuel the Way’ to help United Way

United Way of Clallam County last week announced “Fuel the Way,” a new fundraiser, that sees five gas stations throughout the Port Angeles area to help raise funds for local nonprofits.

The participating gas stations will donate 10 cents per gallon on select dates in February and March.

Chris Szczepczynski, United Way Board member and 2017 campaign chair, said that Bob Lovell of Roadrunner Fuel on Front Street and Lovell’s Chevron on First Street came up with the fundraiser idea.

United Way board members will be on location at each gas station to thank customers and help them sign up to win a $50 gas card.

“Each station has generously donated not only proceeds from fuel sales, but a $50 gas card to one lucky winner from each day. All you have to do is sign up when you fuel up at the participating stations,” Szczepczynski said.

“When you help us Fuel the Way, we want you to win too. If you have a corporate account, or work for a business that fuels up at any of these stations, please plan ahead to help United Way and our community.”

The “Fuel the Way” schedule is as follows:

• Feb. 16 — Lovell’s Chevron, 601 E. First St., and Roadrunner Shell, 1023 E. Front St.

• March 2 — First Race Car Wash/76 Station, 907 E. First St.

• March 16 — 76 Station, 331 W. First St.

• March 31 — Fairmount Shell, 1137 W. US Highway 101

Donations to United Way can also be made by phone (360-457-3011), online through www.unitedwayclallam.org, by mail to: PO Box 937, Port Angeles, WA 98362, or dropped off at the United Way office located at 1601 E. Front St., Building 2-Suite A, Port Angeles, during normal business hours.

United Way of Clallam County’s mission is “to strengthen the community by helping people live safe, healthy and productive lives.”

Funds raised will be invested in the community through 24 local partner agencies that have programs and services focused on education, financial stability and health.

United Way will continue to collect donations for their 2018 Campaign until March 31.
