Get crabby at PA’s annual CrabFest

Calling all crustacean lovers! The 17th-annual Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival is back on the peninsula with a slew of food, music, demonstrations, games and other events all set at the Port Angeles City Pier from Friday-Sunday, Oct. 5-7.

Last year’s event saw a record eight tons of Dungeness crab served up to locals and visitors, and organizers are preparing for another big event.

Admission to the festival is free. Hours are: Friday, noon-10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Meal tickets are $29.95 and include fresh, locally-caught whole crab served along with fresh corn and cole slaw; a discounted price of $26 is for active military and family with ID. Non-seafood and vegetarian dishes are also be available.

The festival kicks off with a performance by the Lower Elwha Drum Group and a festival blessing offered by a tribal member at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gateway Pavilion.

• A non-denominational “Crab Revival” with music by the Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers on Sunday morning

• Captain Joseph House Foundation Chowder Cook-Off on Sunday

• Craft, merchant and non-profit vendor booths

• Photo and video opportunities

CrabFest was named one of the Top 100 Events by the American Bus Association and has been recognized by Coastal Living Magazine, GQ Magazine, Saveur and others as one of the top seafood festivals in North America.
