Graduating senior enjoy safe, sober party

Following their graduation ceremony on June 7, about 180 graduated Sequim high school seniors piled into the Sequim Elks Lodge for a Safe and Sober Graduation Party, lasting from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning

Funding for this event came from donations from community families and businesses of Sequim as well as several fundraisers — such as Drive 4 UR School, Bike raffle for a Pedego bike, Flamingo Flocking and the senior golf tournament — organized by parents of the graduating seniors under the nonprofit organization Sequim Grad Party.

The graduating seniors events such as Zumba at midnight led by Li Gordan, caricature artwork done by Steve Hartley, blackjack/mini casino run by parents trained by 7 Cedars Casino staff, a deejay, photo booth, gaming truck, “Minute to Win It” games, food and more.

There were also many prizes won all night long, with the biggest prize of the night— a donation of a car by Rocha Family Auto in Sequim — won by graduating senior Quinn Danielson.
