League of Women Voters set voter forums

The League of Women Voters of Clallam County has announced three additional candidate forums to help voters prepare to cast their ballots prior to the Nov. 6 general election.

The Peninsula College Associated Student Council sponsors a forum at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Peninsula College Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles, and consist of two panels. The first panel will include candidates for Public Utility District Commissioner District No. 3, Ted Simpson and Jim Waddell. The second panel will present candidates for U.S. Representative, incumbent Derek Kilmer and Douglas Dightman.

A forum with two panels is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Carver Room of the North Olympic Library System’s Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody Street, Port Angeles. The first panel presents candidates for Clallam County District Court 1 Judge, Dave Neupert and Suzanne Hayden. The second panel will feature candidates for State Representative Position 1, Mike Chapman and Jodi Wilke, and State Representative Position 2, Steve Tharinger and Jim McEntire. The event is co-sponsored by the North Olympic Library System.

The league also sponsors a forum on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Forks, featuring candidates for Clallam County District Court 2 Judge, Erik Rohrer and John Black, and a second panel presents candidates for Clallam County Commissioner District 3, Bill Peach and Howard (Mike) Doherty, Jr.

The events are free and open to the public. Audience members are encouraged to bring their questions for the candidates.

Ballots for the general election are mailed Oct. 17 and must be postmarked for return no later than Nov. 6.

In 2018, ballots will have prepaid postage, so voters will not need to apply a stamp. Ballots can also be deposited in a ballot drop-box up to 8 p.m. on Nov. 6.
