Learn about Dungeness floodplain restoration project

Clallam County will host an open house regarding the lower Dungeness River floodplain restoration project from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road, Sequim.

Located between the Dungeness Schoolhouse and the Dungeness Valley Creamery, the lower Dungeness River floodplain restoration project seeks to reconnect the river with about 110 acres its floodplain. Restoring the lower Dungeness River has been a priority of the Dungeness River Management Team since the late 1990s.

Open house project staff will offer updates about the restoration project, including the alignment of Towne Road and trails that may be built as the project progresses.

Partners in the project include landowners, state, federal, and local agencies, and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.
