Local law officers intercept drugs intended for prison

The Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team and local law enforcement entities arrested two individuals trying to bring methamphetamine into the Clallam Bay Corrections Center.

Prison investigators on Sept. 5 learned of the plot that recently released inmates Arturo Ramirez, 26, of Tacoma, and 39-year-old Jose Orozco of Rochester — known to be affiliated with the street gangs MS13 and the BGDs — were trying to introduce the drug.

On Sept. 12, Ramirez, Orozco and a female driver, arrived in Port Angeles to deliver the methamphetamine to the informant. OPNET — with assistance from detectives from Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Sequim and Port Angeles police departments, the U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service, United States Customs and Border Protection officers and community corrections officers — were able to safely intercept the methamphetamine and take Orozco and Ramirez into custody.

The female driver was interviewed and released.

OPNET intercepted a total 60.9 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $4,872 and a prison value of $24,360.00.
