Memorial Day 2017: For the fallen, heartfelt tributes

The Sequim community turned out in droves to honor Americans who died while serving in the U.S. armed forces at Memorial Day ceremonies across the area.

Cmdr. Carl Bradshaw, American Legion commanding officer, and the Sequim VFW Post 4760 led services at Sequim View Cemetery, Jamestown Cemetery, Dungeness Cemetery and Blue Mountain Cemetery. Cemeteries featured flags placed there by American Legion Post 62 from May 27-29.

Other area services included a combined VFW and American Legion service at the ceremony at the Gardiner Community Cemetery as well as services at Mount Angeles Memorial Park and Captain Joseph House Foundation in Port Angeles, three sites in Port Townsend and the Forks Cemetery.
