News: City to begin issuing selected OTC permits

The City of Sequim Department of Community Development began issuing Over the Counter (OTC) permits for selected activities beginning on May 15. OTC permits will be offered to customers and contractors for re-roofing, demolition, heat pump installation/replacement and ductless heat pump installations.

Fillable applications are available at www.sequimwa.gov. Permit applicants need to bring a completed application to the Community Development Department, on the second floor of the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St. Staff will perform an analysis, determine the fee, approve the application and direct the applicant to the Finance Department to pay the fee to complete the process. Required inspections follow the completion of the permitted job.

The development of the OTC permit is a result of the LEAN process the Department of Community Development completed last fall. The LEAN process was conducted in partnership with the Washington State Auditor’s Office to continuously improve the City’s permitting process.
