Joyce Kathlyn (Adkins) Holloway

October 6, 1931 – June 3, 2018

On June 3, 2018 the world lost one of it’s finest ladies, with Heaven gaining a new angel. Joyce Kathlyn (Adkins) Holloway passed away Sunday morning at 8:42 am surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in Logan, West Virginia on October 6th, 1931 to Dabney and Eva Adkins as the middle sister of three girls, and a true preachers kid.

Joyce was a mentor and a true inspiration to those around her. She was smart, and she never met a challenge that she couldn’t face head on.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Joyce was a strong Southern Baptist Christian woman, who thoroughly enjoyed sharing the word of God with others, and did her very best to live by his word. She frequently stated “Actions speak louder than words.” Something she portrayed in her daily life. She loved working with her church and was actively involved in several of the lady’s groups, she absolutely loved her Bunco ladies.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Raymond P. Holloway, sisters; Valda (Bill) Bias, Lenora (Charlie) Cass, her son Albert (Barbara) Betchie and daughter Denise (Jerry) Webb, stepdaughter Paulette (Buddy) Hathcock and stepson Daniel Holloway, 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Lanny Milom, stepsons Dennis and David Holloway and numerous other beloved family members.

We are sure it took her a week or so to get through the reception line at the pearly gates. The family reunion there was certainly enormous, and included “Chicken and Dumplins” all around.

She will be forever in our hearts and will truly be missed every single day we have to go on without her.

A memorial service will be held July 18th, at 11:00 am, followed by a potluck at First Baptist Church of Sequim, 1368 Sequim-Dungeness Way. Bring your favorite dish and memories to share.
