OMC picks Duerr to lead emergency services department

Trisha Duerr, RN, has been named director of emergency services at Olympic Medical Center, OMC officials annpunced this week.

Duerr has more than nine years of emergency nursing experience and has been with Olympic Medical Center for nearly two years, most recently as the supervisor in the emergency department.

“In her supervisor role, Trisha not only developed a triage education program, but also the internal ‘code’ responses for STEMI, stroke and sepsis,” OMC chief nursing officer Ralph Parker said.

“She was also instrumental in implementing a county-wide fall prevention program and served as the primary educator for the ‘Stop the Bleed’ program,” Parker added.

Duerr received her Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Olympic College in Bremerton, and her Master of Science in nursing education from Western Governor’s University. She is a certified emergency nurse, certified emergency pediatric nurse and is an instructor in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Stop the Bleed and high-performance CPR.

She also leads the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program for Olympic Medical Center.

The emergency department at Olympic Medical aCenter had more than 29,460 visits in 2018, and is a Level 3 Trauma Center.

The department has 20 exam rooms and 62 employees.
