Port Angeles man injured in Dec. 27 US Highway 101 crash

A Port Angeles man was hurt and the Washington State Patrol will recommend a charge of vehicular assault for a Sequim driver after a collision last week on U.S. Highway 101 west of East Kolonels Way.

Jeff J. Holland, 55, of Port Angeles was transported to Olympic Medical Center after the wreck at 7:53 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27.

The State Patrol said a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Amber N. Gallauher, 28, of Sequim, was headed west and turned left in front of a Toyota 4Runner driven by Holland.

The Toyota struck the Chevrolet, which came to rest on the eastbound sidewalk, said the State Patrol.

The Toyota came to rest on its roof in the eastbound lanes.

Gallauher was not hurt, according to the State Patrol.

The State Patrol said the roadway was partially blocked for more than four hours.

Charges of vehicular assault are expected against Gallahuer, according to a State Patrol collision memo.

Drug or alcohol use was cited in the memo.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
