Rotary club’s 2018 salmon bake draws 400+

Despite some chilly weather that forced festivities inside, the Rotary Club of Sequim’s 2018 Salmon Bake drew more than 400 community members to its annual fundraising event on Aug. 12.

With the helping hands of several Sequim Sunrise Rotarians, the local civic groups kept the crowd entertained in the Sequim Boys & Girls Club confines with alder wood-baked salmon and live entertainment by The Cat’s Meow and the Dukes of Dabob.

Attendees were also treated to raffles, a vendor mall and information from several local nonprofits.

This year’s event sponsors included Hitchbridge Management Services, Sequim Health and Rehabilitation, the Jones Sunshine Fund, Brigadoon Vacation Rentals-Sequim Bay Hideaway and the Olympic Peninsula YMCA.

Rotary officials did not have a total for funds raised from the 2018 event by press time. Proceeds from this event will be spent in support of local charities including the Boys & Girls Club, plus dictionaries for Sequim fourth-grade students, fees associated with the Irrigation Festival Grand Parade and more.
