Sequim free clinic’s annual walk set

It’s time once again to stretch those legs and get more knowledge about health.

The Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic-The Sequim Free Clinic hosts its 15th-annual Clinic Fun Walk and Health Fair, starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The clinic’s lone fundraiser starts and finishes at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., with registration opening at 8 a.m.

The event is free but donations are accepted. All proceeds from the walk go to the Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic, supplying basic urgent and chronic medical care for the uninsured and under-insured.

As in previous events, the course is a 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) fun walk, though the event also offers a 1-mile course.

Individuals, families and teams can walk or run through Carrie Blake Park, the Water Reuse Demonstration Site and a part of the Olympic Discovery Trail. All pets must be leashed on the walk.

Following the walk, participants are encouraged to visit the health fair, which features screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar and oxygen saturation. It also features information about automated external defibrillators (AEDs) as well as a variety of health and wellness information and services through the participation of various specialty departments from the Olympic Medical Center.

Note: No pets are allowed inside the building, but volunteers are available to look after pets while participants register and enjoy the health fair.
