Sequim sets the table: Food Bank distributes 900 Thanksgiving meals

Turkey, pie and all the fixings flew off the shelves of the Sequim Food Bank, 144 W. Alder St., prior to Thanksgiving.

Food bank board president Stephen Rosales said volunteers and staff handed out 900 turkeys, pies and more on Nov. 16-17 and 19 for this year’s Holiday Meal Bags program. In preparation, about 50 volunteers from Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, Sequim Seventh-day Adventist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church prepped 900 bags with stuffing and other food in just 30 minutes on Nov. 13.

Next month, volunteers will distribute Christmas bags noon-4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Dec. 21-22.

In-between holidays, the Sequim Food Bank is open from 1-4 p.m. Mondays and 9 a.m.-noon Fridays and Saturdays. For more information, and/or to donate, call 360-683-1205 or 360-461-6038, or visit www.sequimfoodbank.org.
