Shellfish harvesting closure announced

Recreational shellfish harvesting is closed to all species from Pillar Point west to Cape Flattery and closed to all species in Discovery Bay because of the presence of biotoxins, county health officials said this week.

The Clallam County Department of Health and Human Services’ Environmental Health Division announced the closure on Aug. 5.

There are no shellfish harvesting closures in the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Pillar Point east to the Jefferson County Line or in Dungeness Bay. Sequim Bay remains closed to all species, as do ocean beaches.
