Stand down set for May 3 in Forks

Voices for Veterans, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, hosts a Stand Down for veterans from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at the Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchants Road, Forks. The event is a special day of fellowship for the veterans and a day for volunteers who want to give back and say “Thank you” to veterans.

Get free transportation on Clallam and Jefferson Transit buses. Because of Lake Crescent construction project closures, veterans must be on board bus No. 14 in Port Angeles by 7:45 a.m.; departure from Forks is 1:30 p.m.

Voices for Veterans provides direct services and connects veterans to more than 20 different organizations, such as health screenings, medical/dental, housing, employment, education, veteran benefits, to legal counseling, haircuts, food, pet supplies, outdoor equipment and new clothing.
