Thieves steal about $750 in equipment from high school shed

Sequim Police Department reports about $750 in equipment was stolen from a maintenance shed at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave., in mid-August.

School Resource Officer Kindryn Leiter said they’ve interviewed one of two suspects allegedly seen on video surveillance breaking into the shed on Thursday, Aug. 16.

So far, officers recovered about half of the stolen items, Leiter said.

“We’re still working with the school district as all of the employees start coming back in, so we’ll figure out if anything else has gone missing,” she said.

Leiter and Brian King, chief criminal deputy with Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, said they’ve been in communication to see if any of their open cases are connected.

The high school remains an open investigation, Leiter said.
