Two hurt in wreck west of Port Angeles; road blocked

Two drivers were injured in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 101 near the intersection of Olympic Hot Springs Road west of Port Angeles on Jan. 17.

A Ford F150 was traveling eastbound on US Highway 101 crossed the center line and crashed into a van that was traveling westbound, Trooper Chelsea Hodgson said.

She said the male driver of the van was injured — later identified as Tarance Gilham, 43, of Port Angeles — while the other occupant of the truck, later identified as 51-year-old Jeffrey Seelye of Sequim, was uninjured.

The woman and two children in the van, of ages 11 and 3, were uninjured, Hodgson said. The van’s driver was later ifentified as Ashley Melvielle, 30, of Port Angeles.

The driver of the pickup was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault, Hodgson said.

The road-blocking wreck was reported at about 3:35 p.m. at milepost 240.
