United Way of Clallam County hits goal, looks to thank local donors

Thanks to the generous community, United Way of Clallam County raised $824,328 during its 2018 fundraising campaign, topping the organization’s $800,000 goal.

“In addition to our annual campaign fundraising, our Clallam Community Foundation invested $686,000 to the community through scholarships, grants, capital projects and more,” said Christy Smith, chief executive officer of United Way of Clallam County.

“Between the annual campaign and the Clallam Community Foundation, United Way invested a total of $1.4 million into our community last year,” she added.

United Way board members and staff look to thank and honor businesses and individuals who went above and beyond supporting United Way at the annual Campaign Celebration from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at The Cedars at the Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road.

“We have 18 awards we will be presenting to outgoing board members, event sponsors, outstanding volunteers and partner agencies, workplace campaigns and more,” Smith said.

This year’s event is sponsored by 7 Cedars Casino, Green Crow and Olympic Veterinary Clinic.
