Volunteer Hospice offers grief support group in Port Angeles

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County is offering a grief support group starting Wednesday, May 23, at its Port Angeles location, 540 E. Eighth St.

The group will be facilitated by Midge James and will continue for eight consecutive Wednesdays from 6-7:30 p.m.

The purpose of grief support groups is to offer a safe, peaceful, supportive environment where participants can share their feelings and experiences, gain a clearer understanding of the grieving process, connect with others who are grieving, and develop coping strategies and skills for managing the emotional pain of loss.

Although there is no charge, space is limited and preregistration is required. For more information or to register, contact the VHOCC office 360-452-1511 or Midge James at 360-797-1006 or midgejames1@gmail.com.

Three more grief support groups are scheduled in the coming months: starting dates in Sequim are July 9 and Oct. 22; and Sept. 11 in Port Angeles.

VHOCC is celebrating its 40th year of providing no-charge hospice services to patients and their families. Part of VHOCC’s mission is to offer grief support groups, not only to families of hospice patients, but to anyone in the community who has experienced the death of a loved one.
