Audrey Maxine Grandbouche

A memorial service for Sequim resident Audrey Maxine Grandbouche will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Sequim Bible Church, 847 N. Sequim Ave.

Mrs. Grandbouche died Dec. 29, 2008, at the age of 86.

She was born April 21, 1922, in Pueblo, Colo., to William and Lucile A. Elliott Lee. She graduated from high school in Cheyenne, Wyo.

She married Robert C. Grandbouche on Aug. 28, 1942, in Kimball, Neb. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1999.

Mrs. Grandbouche was a telephone operator, mother and military wife, mostly in California and Washington. She loved her family and her dog and also enjoyed playing games, particularly cards.

She is survived by her son, Gary Grandbouche of Sequim; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Lee on April 27, 2005.

She was a member of Sequim Bible Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.



Lyle Edward Williams

A celebration of life for Port Angeles resident Lyle Edward Williams will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Port Angeles Eagles Club, 110 S. Penn St.

Mr. Williams died Dec. 25, 2008, at the age of 81.

He was born April 27, 1927, in Crystal Lake, Minn., to Edward and Ella Mae Gilbertson Williams and raised by his father and stepmother, Freda,

He served in the United States Army in World War II and retired from Pen Ply Mill in 1980.

He joined the Port Angeles Eagles Club on Sept. 17, 1976, a club he was very active in for 32 years. He enjoyed volunteering with the Special Peoples Salmon Derby for many years and also enjoyed calling bingo, volunteering, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his son Larry Williams of Port Angeles; stepson and daughter-in-law Phillip and Ashleigh Lobner of Port Angeles; daughters Valarie Andersen of Port Angeles; Roxanne Fryer of Arizona; Nancy Johnson of Port Angeles; Lisa McGarvie of Bellingham; and Sara Cambra of Texas; sister Charlene Boyce of Fresno, Calif.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

William Robb Glenny

A service for Sequim resident William Robb Glenny will be

held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim. The Rev. Bill Gordon will preside. A reception follows at the church.

Mr. Glenny died Jan. 1, 2009, at the age of 82.

He was born May 30, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Dorothy and William Glenny Sr.

He married Gretchen Essen on March 17, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minn.

He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy during World War II and reserve duty in the U.S. Medical Corps in 1950. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1952 and held a Mayo Clinic fellowship in pathology between 1956-1959.

Mr. Glenny lived in St. Paul, Minn., from 1959 to 2004, when he moved to Sequim.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sequim, Minnesota Medical Association, American College of Pathologists and American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

Devoted to his wife of 52 years, he was extremely proud of and interested in the lives of his three children. His five grandchildren brought much joy to his life.

He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Louise Glenny of Sequim; sons and daughters-in-law Robb and Anne Glenny of Seattle and Iain and Rebecca Glenny of Thailand; daughter and son-in-law Gretchen and Mathew Damon of St. Paul, Minn.; sisters and brothers-in-law Ellen and Vernon Anderson and Roberta and Richard Weather; and five grandchildren.

William H. Sohlberg

A service for Port Angeles resident William H. Sohlberg will be held at a later date. Mr. Sohlberg died Dec. 22, 2008, at the age of 82.

He was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., to Charles Theodore and Mary P. Partheen. He married Mary Ellen Johnson on Oct. 4, 1952, in Chicago, Ill.

He was a corporal in the United States Marines, serving in the Pacific Theater in World War II from 1944-1947. Educated in Chicago, Mr. Sohlberg worked for Chicago NW Railroad, where he was an engineer for 42 years, retiring in 1989.

He moved to Port Angeles in 1989, where he enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, his grandchildren and being a member of the YMCA for more than 17 years. He attended Lighthouse Christian Church and was a member of the American Legion and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Mr. Sohlberg is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Sohlberg of Port Angeles; son and daughter-in-law Vern and Penny Sohlberg of Port Angeles; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Paul Warner of Sequim and Carolyn and Glenn Ritchie of Chicago; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Bert and Roy Sohlberg.

Wilfred R. 'Red' Manning

A service with military honors has been held for Port Angeles resident Wilfred R. "Red" Manning, who died Dec. 29, 2008, at the age of 86.

He was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Seattle to Charles Henry and Helen Taylor Manning. He attended Meridian High School in Kent.

He served in the Army 11th Airborne during World War II in the Philippines and New Guinea, receiving a Purple Heart. He married Betty Ballard on Nov. 13, 1954.

Mr. Manning worked for ITT Rayonier for 29 years. He lived in Sekiu for 23 years before moving to Port Angeles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family.

Mr. Manning is survived by his wife, Betty; sons and daughters-in-law Rich of Craig, Alaska; Chuck and Debra of Seattle; and Doug and Karen of Cumberland, Maine; daughter and son-in-law Donna Lee and John Wescott of Seattle; brother and sister-in-law Harry and Mary Manning of Kent; 105-year-old aunt Evelyn Torpery of Seattle; and four grandchildren..
