Myron 'Neal' Richards

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Naval Elks Lodge, 131 E. First St., Port Angeles, for Sequim resident Myron 'Neal' Richards. The Rev. Art Morlin is the officiant.

Mr. Richards died Nov. 19, 2009, at the age of 42.

He was born June 9, 1967, in Forks to Gordon and Willena Shannon Richards.

Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



Maurice Franklin 'Bo' Smith

A memorial service for former Sequim resident Maurice Franklin "Bo" Smith will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1, in Carlsbad, Calif. A military service in San Diego, Calif., follows the memorial service.

Mr. Smith died Nov. 7, 2009, after an extended illness.

He was one of the last surviving fighter pilots who helped repel Japan's invasion of Guadalcanal.

Born in Spokane, he moved with his family to San Diego, Calif., as a child and moved to Sequim in 1980 following retirement.

A Sequim city councilman in the early 1990s, he and his wife, Brigit Clarke Smith, returned to San Diego in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Brigit Clarke Smith of Carlsbad, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Tricia Smith of San Diego; stepchildren Renee Young of Vista, Calif., and Clarke Young of Santa Monica, Calif.; one grandson; four stepgrandchildren; and two cousins.



Maria Schneider

A funeral Mass was celebrated for Sequim resident Maria Schneider, who died Nov. 17, 2009, at the age of 101.

She was born March 7, 1908, in Urbau, Austria, to Johan and Anna Steiner Pfleger.

She married Franz Schneider in November 1929 in Urbau. He preceded her in death in March 1977.

Mrs. Schneider enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Franz and Mary Ellen Schneider of California and Siegfried and Jean Schneider of Port Angeles; daughter and son-in-law Marie and Richard Reed of Sequim; brother Hans Pfleger; sister Kathi Siehler; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and six nephews and nieces.



Dorothy Jean Dotlich

A private memorial service will be held for Sequim resident Dorothy Jean Dotlich, who died Nov. 4, 2009, at the age of 81.

She is survived by her sons Paul, George, Rade, Daniel and Matthew; brother James Metz of Hobart, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.



Oliver 'Ole' Earl Sewell

No services were reported for Sequim resident Oliver Earl Sewell, who died Nov. 8, 2009, at the age of 96.

He was born in Seattle to Earl and Sadie Sewell but spent his early life in Quilcene.

He is survived by sons Gary and Earl; daughters Janice Jorden and Della Harmon; sisters Lottie Trevino and Marguerite Ayers; and numerous grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wives Naomi and Mitzi; brother Marvin; sisters Arlene Burbank, Alberta Enos and Violette Dreiling.



Robert James Jorstad

No services were reported for former Sequim resident Robert James Jorstad, who died Nov. 12, 2009, at the age of 84.

He was born May 13, 1925, in Kenyon, Minn., to Melvin Richard and Selma Jorstad.

He graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and later served in the Army during the Korean War. In 1954, he moved to Rice Lake, Wis., where he was a mail carrier for many years.

He married Bernice Kunz Gorell in 1956. After her death in 1987, he met and married Nancy Robertson Charlton of Ellensburg in 1992.

He is survived by his wife Nancy of Green Valley, Ariz.; brother Donald of Moorpark, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Arnold Fosteson of Rice Lake, Wis.; stepchildren Richard and Lynette Gorell; Terrance and Christine Gorell, Ralph and Kathy Charlton; Janice and Roger Ederle; K.C. and Colleen Charlton; and Win and Anna Charlton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice, and brothers Olaf, Melvin and Paul.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church of Sequim.

Angel Valley Funeral Home and Old Pueblo Crematory in Tucson, Ariz., were in charge of arrangements.



Mary 'Marge' Marguerite Reynolds

A funeral Mass was celebrated for Port Angeles resident Mary "Marge" Marguerite Reynolds, who died Nov. 18, 2009, at the age of 88.

She was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Danville, Ill., to Joseph and Anna Witt Brandenberger Jackse.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Dungeness Courte Alzheimer Community, 651 Garry Oak Drive., Sequim, or a charity of choice.

Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



Edward Frank Simmonds

Former Sequim resident Edward Frank Simmonds died Oct. 26, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz., at the age of 99.

He was born Sept. 17, 1910.

An accomplished musician, businessman and life master of bridge, he enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Sequim activities he enjoyed included Sasquatch safaris, geoduck dippers, lute and lyre lessons and ornithology.

He is survived by his son Steven, of Prescott, Ariz.; daughter Lesley, of Glenview, Ill.; sister Madelyn Sullivan, of Morton Grove, Ill.; and a grandson.



Barbara Mae Williams

Barbara Mae Williams died Nov. 20, 2009, following a heart attack at the age of 68.

WINIFRED

(WINNIE) SALLEE

Dec. 17, 1934 - Nov. 22, 2009



Winnie Sallee died at her home in Sequim after a brave battle with cancer.

She was born in greater Manchester,

England to Joseph and Eliza Leach. She was one of five children. As a young woman she moved from

England to America to marry Jack Sallee in 1958. They spent a number of years in Texas where she was a petroleum lab tech. Together they raised 5 boys on the family Cays Rd farm in Sequim. Through this time she was involved in running a number of different businesses. Winnie, Jack and the entire family were active in the aviation community on many different fronts. This led her family and many friends to build Sequim Valley Airport. After the death of her husband Jack, she became the President of Sequim Valley Airport and has been running it for the last 12 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jack and son Charlie. She is survived by 4 sons. Andrew Sallee of Sequim, Joseph Sallee of Merritt Island, Florida, William Sallee of Sequim, and Michael Sallee of Sequim. Four grandchildren, Daniel Sallee, Elisa Sallee, Charlotte Sallee and Jacob Sallee. One sister Joan Leach of Sequim, three brothers, Roy Leach of Sequim, and Fred Leach and Alan Leach both of England.

A reception will be held at her home Sunday, November 29th

at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be

made to Hospice of Clallam County.
