Richard George Evander

A graveside service for Sequim resident Richard George Evander will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Sequim View Cemetery.

Mr. Evander died Jan. 15, 2010, at the age of 82.

He was born Dec. 29, 1927, in New Jersey.

He served in the United States Navy.

He was a retired landscape designer and park superintendent.

He is survived by his sons Jim Evander of Donner Lake, Calif., and Paul Evander of Tahoe Vista, Calif.; and daughters and sons-in-law Christine and Peter Loos of Kenau, Hawaii, and Janet Evander and Mark Wimer of College Park, Md.



Arlene Marie Elizabeth Haas Gensler

A funeral Mass for former Sequim resident Arlene Marie Elizabeth Haas Gensler will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 23, in Danbury, Conn.

She died Jan. 10, 2010, at the age of 66 of cancer.

She was born Aug. 22, 1943, in Reading, Pa., to Jacob Albert and Lillian Harriet Fick Haas.

She graduated as valedictorian from Mount Penn High School in Pennsylvania.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in religious studies from Brown University, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.

She earned a Master of Theological Studies degree in patristics from Weston School of Theology.

She completed all but the dissertation for a Ph.D. in historical theology from Fordham University.

After converting as a teenager, she became a devout Roman Catholic. She belonged to St. Mary's Church in Kingston, N.Y.; St. Peter's Church in Danbury, Conn.; St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sequim; and St. Joseph's Church in Fort Collins, Colo. She served as a member, religious education teacher, lector and eucharistic minister.

A Fort Collins resident at the time of her death, Mrs. Gensler was a former resident of Baltimore, Md.; Seattle; Kingston, N.Y.; Providence and Danbury, Conn.; Cambridge, Mass.; and Grantham, N.H.

She participated in many community projects as a quilt guild member, designing numerous crib-size, queen-size and king-size quilts, all quilted by hand and presented to relatives and friends as gifts.

She made tent camping trips to most of the major national parks and monuments in the United States and Canada, including a three-month, 15,000-mile trip from New Hampshire to Alaska and back.

She also traveled by airplane, boat or train to Egypt, Nepal, New Zealand, Hawaii, Australia, Bermuda, the Antarctic Peninsula, the Galapagos Islands, Svalbard in the Arctic, Iceland, Vladivostok to Moscow, Russia, and the historical cities bordering the Mediterranean and Baltic seas.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon Gensler; son Justin Gensler of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter Gwendolen Gensler of East Thetford, Vt.; brother Albert Haas of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; a nephew; and three nieces.



Helen D. Heil

Sequim resident Helen D. Heil died Jan. 8, 2010, at the age of 83.

She was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Elma to George and Mildred Bachelor Dunlap.

Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.



David G. Fuller

No services will be held at the request of David G. Fuller, of Sequim, who died Jan. 11, 2010, at the age of 79.

He was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Castle Rock, Colo., to Ruth A. Tunnicliff.

He was a Seabee in the United States Navy.

He married Barbara Fuller on April 16, 1982, in Lake Tahoe, Nev.

He was a member of Ironworkers Union No. 118.

Mr. Fuller is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law Dan and Kathy Fuller of Sequim and David Fuller of California; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. His wife preceded him in death on June 4, 2001.

Sequim Valley Chapel was in charge of arrangements.



Donald Repp

A service was held for Sequim resident Donald Repp, who died Jan. 12, 2010, at the age of 74.

He was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Endicott.

Mr. Repp managed a credit union for Chevron Oil Co.

He loved to fish but golf was his special interest.

He is survived by his wife, Esther, and his son, Michael.

Drennan Ford was in charge of arrangements.



Edwin Blake Weston

No service was reported for Sequim resident Edwin Blake Weston, who died Jan. 15, 2010, at the age of 82.

He was born May 5, 1927, in River Sioux, Iowa, to Paul R. and Ada Boyd Weston.

He married Melba Storie.

Mr. Weston was an electrician for 50 years. He was a member of Local Unions 768 and 46.

He lived in Sequim for the past 30 years.

Besides Washington, he lived in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon and Idaho.

He built furniture, played racquetball and worked in the yard and shop.

He is survived by his wife, Melba; sons and daughter-in-law, Edwin Weston II of Port Orchard and Thomas and Colleen Weston of Auburn; daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Ray Hanna of Seabeck; sisters Marjorie Giermann and Iris Carroll of Kalispell, Mont.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Sequim Valley Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
