Douglas Keith Wickham
A celebration of life for Port Angeles resident Douglas Keith Wickham will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Peninsula Golf Course clubhouse, 824 S. Lindberg Road, Port Angeles.
Mr. Wickham died May 2, 2010, at the age of 65.
He was born Oct. 5, 1944.

Hugh Louis Mickelson
A celebration of life for Sequim resident Hugh Louis Mickelson is at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at Salt Creek Campground, 3506 Camp Hayden Road, Port Angeles.
Mr. Mickelson died Dec. 31, 2009. He was born in Hoquiam on July 19, 1925.
He served in the United States Navy, graduated with a business degree from Sacramento State College and pursued a career as an accountant/bookkeeper.
Mr. Mickelson enjoyed fly-fishing, working with the Lions Club and spending time with family and friends. He and his wife were camp hosts at Salt Creek for several years.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and John Penney of Evergreen, Colo., and Deborah Matthes and Steve Tovey of Moses Lake; stepson and daughter-in-law Reid and Barbara Thompson of Guinda, Calif.; sister Marjorie Russel; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Ann Mickelson, on Sept. 11, 2009.
Patricia D. Hultenschmidt
Private family services will be held for Port Angeles resident Patricia D. Hultenschmidt, who died April 29, 2010, at the age of 62.
She was born June 6, 1947, in Sacramento, Calif., to Joseph Cardwell and Virginia Conley Cardwell.

CATHERINE JEANNE STEVENSON
Born June 12, 1928 to Harold and Evelyn (Bennett) Little in Los Angeles, Ca. She attended University of Arizona. She met her husband James while they both sang in the church choir. They were married in 1947 followed by 4 children.
After a long career with Sears, Jeanne and Jim settled in Carlsborg where they owned and operated the Carlsborg store. Many children in the area learned their math from Jeanne as they came in to the store to buy their penny candy. She never turned away anyone who was in need and was loved by all.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband Jim and by her parents. She is survived by children Susan Park of Sequim who was mom's caregiver, Victoria Moody GA, Eileen Stevenson, of Lake Stevenson, WA. and Keven Stevenson GA, Also survived by grandchildren Erica and Kathryn Stevenson, Patrick and James Moody, Christianna Stevenson and by great grandchildren Shelby, Delany and Brady Moody.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Charles Sullivan and his staff for their caring and concern for our mom.
At our mom's request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, hug your pet or donate to the A.S.P.C.A.
James A. Bowen
James A. Bowen died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Juneau on April 25, 2010. He was 58.
He was born in 1951 in Sequim, Wash., to Jack and Betty Bowen. He was an enrolled member of the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe, where he went by the name of He-alth, which he was given at birth.
He was a graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California Berkeley, where he was an associate editor of the California Law Review. After graduation he served as an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C.
He returned to the Pacific Northwest to work as the tribal judge in Washington State for the Puyallup Tribal Court and appellate court judge pro tem for numerous tribal courts. He was a co-founder and president of the Northwest Tribal Court Judges Association.
Upon his move to Sitka, he served as tribal attorney. He focused on the implementation of the Indian Child Welfare Act and the development of tribal court systems. He was widely recognized as an expert on Federal Indian law. He served as an administrative law judge for the state of Alaska for 20 years.
For all the significant and serious legal work of his career, to friends and family he was fun-loving with a zany sense of humor. He was often referred to as "Jim, the Juggling Judge" as he could balance many balls in the air. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and colleagues throughout the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Joe Bowen.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Bowen, and her family; sisters, Sherry Macgregor and Janis King; nephews, Chumahan Bowen and Matthew King; and niece, Beth Bowen.
A celebration of life was held in Sequim at 3 p.m. on his birthday, May 30, at the Jamestown Tribe Community Center.
Dr. William Lunsford Yandell
August 3, 1934-April 27, 2010
Dr. William Lunsford Yandell died April 27 after a long battle with cancer. He was born August 3, 1934 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Kenneth E. and Daryl Burson Yandell. He grew up in Union, New Jersey. He graduated from Kansas State University with a B.A.; and obtained both Master's and Doctorate degrees from the University of Cincinnati. He served two years in the U.S. Army.
Dr. Yandell was an educator for all of his adult life, and was a dean of the University of Cincinnati where he designed, developed, and taught a course in Speech Confidence Building. This was a speech course for those people who have a greater than usual fear of speaking in public. It is now being taught on many college campuses.
He married Mary Louise Brent Yandell in Cincinnati in December, 1961. They had two children, Charles Brent Yandell and Megan Elizabeth Yandell. Bill served on the Vestry and the Education Committee of Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati.
The Yandells moved to Sequim in September of 1991. Dr. Yandell served on the Vestry of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and was a former Senior Warden. He sang in the choir of St. Luke's and Peninsula Singers. He and his wife started Music Live With Lunch, The Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival, and Lessons and Carols at St. Luke's. The Yandells enjoyed numerous trips to England to visit family and friends. Bill was also active in Sunrise Rotary.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise (Lou), son, Charles Brent Yandell and daughter-in-law, Lara Bowles Yandell, of Cave Creek, Arizona. His daughter, Megan Elizabeth Yandell of Lancaster, CA, sister Lynn Yandell Miller of Albuquerque, N.M., nephew David Miller and niece Teslin Miller Vigil also of Albuquerque, N. M. and nephew Kurt A. Wiesenberger of Charlotte, N.C.
The Memorial Service will be at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15. The Rev. Robert L. Rhoads will officiate. Inurment will be in the Columbarium at St. Luke's. In lieu of flowers, if desired, please make a contribution to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.
Alan Hanby Swann
Alan Hanby Swann, age 72, passed away on April 14, 2010.
He was born on December 31, 1937 in Lynn, MA. His mother was Amanda Hanby and his father was Donald Mallory Swann.
During his 6 years of service as a radioman, he served the U.S. Navy on a destroyer. Alan received his mechanical engineering degree from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. It is one of the largest engineering programs in the United States for more than 100 years.
Alan met his wife, Rosa Julia, when they both worked at Cal-Style Furniture Mfg. in Compton, CA. He was vice-president of manufacturing where he supervised 750 employees working on custom dinette furniture. He married Rosa Julia in Torrance, CA in 1987.
Alan loved his boat (named Rosa Julia). He had it in dry dock for several years as he did major updates and remodeled it for future excursions. His endless patience was the perfect quality for his avocation of woodworking. Alan harvested the timber from his forest and painstakingly dried the wood for months in his shop. The designs for his custom furniture were his pride and joy. Anyone who met or worked with him found a loyal friend.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Julia; daughters Lara Jean McDermott (husband Michael) in Larkspur, CA; Sonya Ann Milam (husband Tom) in Colorado; Patty Contreras (husband Jessie) in Fontana, CA; and Jorge Cornejo (wife Suzie) in Los Angeles, CA.
He is also survived by his brother, Rick, (wife Stephanie), in Fairfield, CT; plus ten grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life on May 14 at 1:00 p.m. Father Robert Rhoades will conduct the memorial service at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
