Joan Patricia Egan
Born Joan Patricia Lynch on January 24, 1930 in Seattle, Washington.  She graduated from Holy Names Academy in Seattle in 1947, then went with her family to live in Germany where her father was sent by the United States Occupation Army as a Judge Advocate in the JAG office following World War II.  She returned to Seattle alone after two years and attended the University of Washington and then Burnley Art School.  She married Harry Egan on August 23, 1952.  They raised seven children in Seattle and Spokane, then retired to Sequim in 1992.

Joan was passionate about books and exploring the Olympic Peninsula’s wonders.  She loved to travel, and was a great painter.  She was so well read that spending a half day with her was like reading the books yourself because of her love of the written words and characters brought to life.  There was no better place in the world, she always said, than the Northwest - and her paintings did the mountains and seascapes of our region justice.  A fount of ceaseless energy, she volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society for 20 years, in addition to the Sequim-Dungeness Hospital Thrift store.

Joan is survived by her children Maureen (Wade), Timothy (Joni), Kevin, Mary Ann (Bruce), Colleen (Lois), Kelly (Sally) and Dan, grandchildren Lindsey (Jacob), Sophie, Riley and Casey Egan, Kayla and Rachel Migaki, great-granddaughter Chanel Beals, and her sister Judy Heinrich.  Joan was preceded in death by her parents Grazel and Harris Lynch, her husband Harry Egan, her brother Patrick Lynch, and her grandson Matthew Migaki.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim. Donations in Joan’s name can be made to St. Vincent de Paul, St. Joseph Church, Sequim or to Hospice of Clallam County, Inc.
