Richard Wheeler Mason
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 11, at First United Methodist Church in Port Angeles for Port Angeles resident Richard “Bill” Wheeler Mason, who died April 5, 2012, at the age of 79.
He was born in Springfield, Mass., on Jan. 2, 1933, to Lloyd and Helen Wheeler Mason.

Lisa Camille Clefton Ljunghammar
A celebration of life will be held in Sequim on July 14 for Sequim resident Lisa Camille Clefton Ljunghammar, who died March 22, 2012, at the age of 56.
Inurnment was held April 4, 2012, at the Old Dungeness Cemetery. The Rev. Jean-Pierre Kasonga officiated.
She was born Aug. 3, 1956, in Spokane to Roderic and Georgia Hamilton Clefton.
A manager at U.S. West for 19 years, she lived in Seattle before moving to Sequim.
She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law Kyra and Steven Humphry, of Pasadena, Calif.; Catherine and Eric Sisk, of Seattle; Bridget Hamilton and Joe Galloway, of Seattle; and her partner Heidi Harrenstein, of Sequim.
Sequim Valley Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Augusta Brahlit
Contributions may be made to the Sequim Senior Activity Center in memory of Sequim resident Augusta Brahlit, who died March 24, 2012, at the age of 94.
She was born May 12, 1917, in Zeberg, Russia, to Francis and Vera Komarova Lakis.
She married Henry Brahlit on Oct. 12, 1948, in Concord, Mass. They resided in Bridgeport, Conn., before moving to Sequim in 1984. She is survived by her husband.

               

Nancy Jean Brooks
A memorial service was held at Sunland Golf & Country Club for Sequim resident Nancy Jean Brooks, who died March 28, 2012, at the age of 74.
She was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Ketchikan, Alaska, to Edward M. and Violet R. Routley Kounkel.
She married Harland G. Brooks on June 6, 1987. He preceded her in death in 1993. She retired in 1996. Before moving to Sequim, she lived in Bellevue.
She is survived by her sister Patricia L. Fizer, of Sacramento, Calif.; brother Gerald E. Kounkel, of Kelso; nephews Chris Kounkel and Steve Kounkel, of New York; Craig Kounkel and Erick Kounkel, of Washington; and five other nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, 400 W. Fir St., Sequim; or the Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley, 175 W. Cedar St.

 

 

Robert E. Hagerty
Port Angeles resident Robert E. Hagerty died April 3, 2012, at the age of 66.
He was born in Port Angeles on March 5, 1946, to Edward R. and Amy Nelson Hagerty.
At his prior request there will be no service. A complete obituary will be published in an upcoming edition.

Juliette Faure Gray

Juliette Faure Gray was born June 19, 1915, in North Battleford, a small town on the plains of northern Saskatchewan, Canada.  She died nearly 97 years later, on March 29, 2012, at Sherwood Assisted Living Center in Sequim.

Julie’s end came peacefully, with her three children at her side.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Gray, and is survived by her three children, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

A woman of decisive opinions, Julie lead a full life, emphasized through her strong Catholic faith, devotion to family, and a lifetime of service, including her career as a Registered Nurse.

Growing up in a French-speaking family provided a basis for Julie’s broad-ranging interests and the many close friends that lasted a lifetime.  From creating fine petit point designs, to a long tradition of making her own wine, to serving her church in many capacities, she was continually an active participant in her life.  An avid card player, Julie was particularly accomplished as a duplicate bridge player, achieving the level of Silver Life Master award from the American Contract Bridge League.

Now interred in the Sequim View Cemetery, a memorial mass is scheduled for April 17, 8:30 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sequim.  In lieu of flowers, masses may be offered for Julie, or donations to St. Vincent de Paul.

 

Cora M. Rogers
11/28/1933 – 04/01/2012
    Cora went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 1st 2012 due to a cerebral herniation.  She was born on November 28th 1933 to Verley C. and Ruth M. Craig in Custer South Dakota.
    Cora raised 4 children, Larry, Mike, Craig and Jeff.  She worked in the Dept. of License in Olympia. She then worked for the Dept. of License in Port Angeles, then became Sub Agent for Vehicle Licensing in Sequim for 24 years and retired Dec. 31st 1996.

    Cora married Arthur Rogers on Dec. 02, 1972. Cora loved to read good Christian books and her Bible daily.
    Cora had two brothers who went before her, Malvin & Albert Craig. Cora is survived by her husband Arthur Rogers, sons Larry (Linda) Mobley, Jeff (Linda) Mobley, Mike Mobley, Craig Mobley and step-daughter Lisalesa Rogers.  Also surviving are her brother Howard (Alice) Craig; sisters Virginia (Jim) Daniels, Charlotte (Fred) Walker, Mary Hernandez; sister-in-laws Betty Ryan, Shirley Rogers, Pat Blanton, Rachel Maines, Dee (Bruce) Krafsky, Jan (Tom) Marx, Normagene Crossley, Kathy Green, and Kristy; brother-in-laws Dave Rogers, Mike Rogers, Gene Rogers; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
    Cora wanted everyone to love Jesus as much as she did, her main verse she read is (John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    She just did not want anyone to be left behind for she loved everyone. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 13th at Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel at 10:00am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am, concluding with a Graveside service at Sequim View Cemetery.
