Memorial service planned for Valerie Joan Garcia

There will be a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel for Sequim resident Valerie Joan Garcia, who died Oct. 13, 2012, at the age of 77. The complete death notice appeared in the Sequim Gazette for Oct. 17, 2012.

 


Donna P. Van Ausdle

A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Sequim Seventh-day Adventist Church, 30 Sanford Lane, for Port Angeles resident Donna Van Ausdle, who died Oct. 19, 2012, at the age of 74.
She was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Sequim, to Vernon O. and Ella M. Ronnaberg Van Ausdle.
She married Erland Hansen; the couple later divorced.
She worked in accounting, banking and bookkeeping.

She is survived by her son Dorian Hansen, of Santee, Calif.; son Matt Hansen, of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Jeana Hansen, of Tacoma; and by her grandchildren.

 


Laura Rodgers Hook Kurtz

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1200 S.W. Alder St., Portland, Ore., for former Sequim resident Laura Rodgers Hook Kurtz, who died Oct. 8, 2012, in Santa Fe, N.M., at the age of 88.
She was born April 26, 1924, in Portland, to Fredrick W. and Lydia E. Hoener Rodgers.
She attended Whitman College and graduated from Portland State College with degrees in education. She taught German and worked in the library at Cleveland High School.
She married John F. Hook on Dec. 11, 1948, in Portland. The couple retired to Sequim in 1983. He died in 1999.
She married Joseph Kurtz on Oct. 1, 2005, in Sequim. He preceded her in death in 2009.
She moved to Santa Fe in 2010.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Esther Hook Milnes and Ralph Milnes of Santa Fe, N.M.; son and daughter-in-law Joseph Rodgers Hook and Linda Hook of San Marcos, Calif.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 


Joseph Anthony Louis Hill

Sequim resident Joseph “Bruce” Anthony Louis Hill died Oct. 17, 2012, at the age of 75.
He was born July 9, 1937, in Montreal, Quebec, to Arden and Gertrude Monty Hill.
He served in the royal Canadian Air Force, the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy, retiring as a full commander.
He married Marie Alice “Francoise” Dupont on Sept. 17, 1966, in Montreal, Quebec.
He was a programmer and systems analyst for the Navy, based in Point Mugu (Oxnard, Calif.) and served in the reserves after retirement. He participated in the Mercury space program at Cape Canaveral, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arden and Gertrude Hill, of Victoria; and his brother Garry Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Francoise, of Sequim; sister Carol Crawford of Lamont, Alberta; sister Diane Hill-Dwyer, of Sequim; sisters and brothers-in-law Fern Hill-Carless and Gord Carless of Aylmer, Ontario; and Ruth Brady and Andre Schleicher of Point-Claire, Quebec.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church,

Sequim, and a memorial service by The Knights of Columbus at dates to be announced later.

 

John Anton Lindsay

77 years old,  John passed away peacefully at his home in Mountlake Terrace, WA on October 13, 2012. He was born on April 26, 1935 in Charleroi, PA to John and Elsie May Lindsay.  John had a good strong heart, was always there for EVERYBODY!  Always, a gentle loving human being. Loved being in Military Service, Loved hunting and fishing, had a wonderful sense of humor, always smiling – which lit the room up. His eyes were always full of compassion, never said anything negative about anybody or anything. Always proud of his entire family and he always made everything all right.
John was preceded in death by his siblings; Edward Lindsay, George Lindsay and Alice Lindsay-Elias (most recent) and he is survived by his three daughters; Deborah Decker, Sherri Lindsay and Tracy Jarvis, seven grandchildren; Daylan Decker, Danielle Decker, Richard Lindsay, Summer Lindsay, Custom Cooper, Christopher Hall, Brinnon Hall and five siblings; Frank D. Lindsay, Joseph H. Lindsay, Jessie C. Lindsay-Knorr, Janice Lindsay-Milos and William A. Lindsay.  Funeral services will be on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Rd, Lynnwood, WA .
God saw you were getting weary, He did what he thought was best.
He put His arms around you and whispered come and rest. 
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone,
for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You will be loved and missed by all.
