Hilmer Dyrness

Hilmer O. “Bill” Dyrness

May, 1931 – January, 2016

Our beloved husband and father passed away at the age of 84 years. He bravely fought lung and bone cancer for over seven years. He could still summon a smile and express his precious sense of humor. He was a true, gentle, family man.

Bill was born in Seattle, Washington, graduated from Lincoln High School, and spent four years in the Navy

during the Korean Conflict.

In 1955 he was honorably discharged and a few

months later traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, to marry his beloved wife Bonnie.

Their first honeymoon was a quick return trip to Seattle where he enrolled at the University of Washington. He went on to earn a degree in Business Administration, graduating in 1958.

Bill began his business career with Simpson Timber Co. After five years, he transferred to the Plywood and Door Division as Sales and Production Coordinator and remained there for twenty-six years.

Retirement began in 1992 with relocation to Sequim, Washington, where he and Bonnie have remained. Bill volunteered for several years at the Sequim Visitor Center.

They loved the outdoors, spending many summers at their favorite fishing lake in eastern Washington. Travels to Arizona, cruising and gardening were other favorites. They celebrated sixty years of marriage in September of 2015.

Bill is survived by his wife Bonnie, two sons Eric and Marc, brother Tom, sister Helen, four grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.

At his request, there were no services.
