Lillian Horne

Lillian Belle Horne

February 10, 1914 – February 1, 2016

Lillian, 101, died February 1, 2016, in Sequim, Washington. She was born February 10, 1914 in Leith, North Dakota to Fred and Nellie (Fischenko) Wenko.

After graduation, she attended college but returned home to care for her mother during an illness.

She left North Dakota to work in Helena, Oregon. She then traveled to Seattle and became an assistant grocery manager, a job she took great pride in.

Lillian married David Horne on Jan. 13, 1946 and moved to Discovery Bay to live on his family homestead. She became a dedicated homemaker, Sunday school teacher, and 4H leader. In 1990 she moved to Port Angeles and then followed her daughter to Sequim.

Lillian loved her family, her home, to garden, sew, and play games. She was both creative and gifted in all of her crafts. She loved to cook, and even more so, to share with others. Company never left empty-handed or with an empty-belly. Lillian loved to laugh, and took great joy in making others do the same. She was a firm believer that “laughter is the best medicine.” She was a devoted wife and loving mother.

Surviving are her twin sons, Gary Horne (Sallie) of Bremerton, Terry Horne (Ellen) of Everett, daughter Jeri Abram (Jeff) of Sequim), 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, two sisters Mae and Anne, and six brothers, Sam, Alex, Felix, Hank, Eddie, and Elmer.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to Children Orthopedic Hospital, Hospice or your favorite charity.

Per her request, there will be cremation with a family service to follow.
