Nelda Fraser

Nelda R. Fraser

March 30, 1923 – March 22, 2016

Nelda Ruth Seematter Fraser was born on March 30, 1923, to John Seematter and Dora Binggeli in Marysville, Kansas. She was one of seven children.

Nelda passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 22, 2016 at The Terraces at Skyline in Seattle as a result of a fall.

She married her sweetheart for life, Robert K. Fraser in 1942 in Los Angeles, California, and they raised one daughter, Judy Markle.

They moved often after Bob (“Wink” to close friends and family) completed his service in the Army Air Corps, his education at USC, and became an elementary school teacher and principal.

They lived in Hawthorne, Lakewood, Whittier, Placentia and, upon retirement, Apple Valley, California, where Bob passed away in 2004.

Nelda worked during WWII at Crown Zellerbach Paper Factory in Los Angeles and later as a teller at the Bank of America.

Her main focus was maintaining a loving home for her family. She became an excellent cook, seamstress, gardener, guitar player, antiques collector and traveler.

Nelda moved to Sequim in 2005. Her family wishes to thank the kind and thoughtful staff at the 5th Avenue, in Sequim, where she lived for 6 years, made many friends and was very happy. As her health began to fail, she was grateful for the assistance of her caregivers, Joanna, Jennifer, Rachel, Brodie and Kathie. Thank you, girls; you were her visiting angels.

She is survived by her daughter Judy (Bill) of Sequim; and grandchildren Lisa (Jason) Schepers, Robert (Tiffany) Martin, and Joanna Forcinel; and was “G-Nanny” or “Grandma Nelda” to Lindsay, Jason, and Brandon Schepers, Randle and Rane Forcinel, and Owen and Connor Martin. In addition to being survived by her daughter and grandchildren, she is also survived by sister Doris Currie of Torrance and brother Charles Seematter of Indio, and 15 nieces an nephews.

Services will be held at McCormick Mortuary in Inglewood, California, with burial to follow at Inglewood Park Cemetery.
