Rita Wright

June 7, 1929 – August 6, 2016

Rita died at her daughter’s home in Portland, where she had just started medical treatment for cancer. She was being cared for by all of her children and knew that they loved and valued her. Rita was born in San Bernardino, CA.

She moved to Alaska in 1950.

She met her future husband Harold in Anchorage while waiting for a bus on a rainy day. She worked at Arctic Health Research and Center for Disease Control while living in Anchorage. She retained that interest

in science her whole life.

Rita and Harold moved to Sequim, WA in 1984 and loved it immediately. They gardened their 2.5 acres, took up gol ng, bragged about the weather and took all visitors to the Game Farm. They made many close friends.

Harold died in 2014. Rita continued to live and value living independently in their Sequim home. Her wonderful neighbors and friends supported her in every way. Rita was a real Seattle Seahawks and Mariners fan. She watched a winning Mariners game on her last night.

She is survived by her son, Andy of Dundee, daughter Ginny Wright of Cannon Beach and Eileen Riggs of Portland, OR. Grandsons Kyle and Brian Riggs of Portland and 2 great granddaughters.

There will be a funeral mass in her honor at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim, WA 98382 followed by a gathering at her home in Sequim.
