Citizens for SARC
SARC is a valuable community facility for all ages — babies to 90+ years old!
When we moved here with our children and grandchildren in 1997 one of the first things we did was join SARC as a family. Why? Because there are healthy activities and outlets for all to enjoy — the wonderful big and small pools, spa and steam room; racquetball and basketball courts, gym, weight and exercise rooms and lots of classes. As a family — and with other friends — we spent countless wonderful hours there. My youngest grandchildren, Wesley and Keaton of Emblem3, even learned to swim there when toddlers!
Now the grandchildren are grown and live out-of-state but I’m still a member enjoying my water aerobics and yoga classes. The friends I’ve made there, the camaraderie, is so important and fun.
SARC is a vital community asset and I believe needs the community’s continued support. It’s where the high school swim team works out and holds its local meets or competitions. ALL second-graders are given swim lessons and learn water safety — so important since it helps prevent accidental drowning in our region surrounded by ocean, lakes and streams. Plus, parents have the option of paying for additional swim lessons to help their children become confident swimmers. In the wading pool there are mother and small children play times, and for those who want it, they now have a child care facility so parents can enjoy their own workout time.
There also are facilities for the handicapped and their caregivers can accompany those who need it. In fact, many need and use SARC for rehabilitation purposes when recovering from an accident, surgery and to improve their quality of life. SARC helps us older ones to keep moving and stay out of nursing homes, besides the sociability and fun.
