Byron Boots, a Sequim High School sophomore, accepts his Sequim Elks Lodge No. 2642 Student of the Month award from Elks representative Doug Metz. Boots, son of Steve and Patra Boots, received a certificate and $50 savings bond. A strong student with a 4.00 grade-point average, Boots is active in soccer, tennis, bike racing, high school band and Honor Society. Boots said he plans to attend a four-year college or university to pursue a career as an aeronautical engineer or environmental researcher, or to attend the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.     Submitted photo
