Parents and guardians of high school seniors are invited to a senior graduation party meeting from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, May 3, in the Sequim High School library, 601 N.
Final plans are being made for the party - an alcohol- and substance-free event following the SHS commencement ceremonies on June 11 - at the planning meeting.
Tickets for graduating seniors are $25 and go on sale the week of May 17.

Quartet named to EWU dean's list
Four Sequim students were named to the dean's list at Eastern Washington University in Cheney for the winter quarter.
They are Brandon Fuellas, Derrell Jensen, Dustin Mauger and Chelsea Twiss.
To be named to Eastern Washington University dean's list, an undergraduate student must earn a grade-point average of 3.50 or better with at least 12 credit hours.
Head Start applications available
Local Head Start, Early Head Start and Early Childhood Education and Assistance programs are recruiting eligible children and families for the 2010-2011 school year.
Head Start is a federally funded program serving families with children up to age 5.
Three programs are available: a part-day, part-year preschool; a full-day, full-year preschool; and Early Head Start, a year-round program for pregnant women and/or children ages 0-3.
Full-day, full-year Head Start and Early Head Start program options are available in Sequim, Port Angeles and Port Hadlock.
Programs provide meals, education and social and health services to eligible children. Parent involvement is encouraged.

Robertson named to top OCS list
Lily Robertson, a fourth-grader at Olympic Christian School, was named to the school's president's list for achieving a 4.0 grade-point average along with the school's third-quarter honor roll.
Peninsula Credit Union extends grant deadline
The Peninsula Credit Union Education Grant program grants money to fund programs, materials and related financial resources for educators to assist in providing learning and growing opportunities for their students.
Grants are awarded up to $500 for use in new programs or continuation of existing programs, materials, equipment or supplies. Applications must be turned in by Friday, April 30.
Grants are available to educators in all primary or secondary classes for both public and private accredited schools in Clallam, Jefferson, Mason, Kitsap and Grays Harbor counties.

Scholarships for future teachers available
Beta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is offering grants to college students who are majoring in education.
Applicants must have graduated from a Clallam County high school and be a student at either the junior or senior level in an accredited teacher-training institution of higher learning.
Students who have completed their first two years of work at Peninsula College and have been accepted by an accredited teacher-training program and students working on their fifth year of training also will be eligible.

Physicians' scholarships, grants available
Caretakers of the Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit Fund are accepting applications for academic scholarships in medically related fields and for medically related community grants.
Both will be awarded in 2010.
The scholarships provide tuition support for students in medical fields. To be eligible, a student must be a graduate of a Clallam County high school and have been accepted into (or currently be enrolled in and making satisfactory progress in) a fully-accredited, professional school in a medically related program.
The community grants are to encourage one-time, medically related community projects that benefit a broad cross-section of the community.
Applications for both scholarships and grants may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit fund, P.O. Box 3005, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
Completed applications are due by Tuesday, June 1.
