Sequim High School and Soroptimist International of Sequim offer a Women In Networks event, “Girl Power,” from 8:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Sequim Middle School cafeteria, 301 Hendrickson Road.

All female Sequim High School students are eligible to take part in this informative and instructional event. The $5 fee includes participation in the seminar, lunch, a T-shirt, emergency whistle and hands-on self-defense instruction.

The event also features presentations about topics such as healthy relationships, making safe choices, awareness of date rape drugs, legal definitions of sexual harassment, rape and domestic violence, street safety, college campus safety, study abroad safety, healthy eating and fitness.

Presenters are Becca Korby, executive director, Healthy Families of Clallam County; Lorraine Shore, Community Policing Services coordinator from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office; Sean Madison, detective, Sequim Police Department; Darrell Nelson, detective, Sequim Police Department; Kathleen Timperio from Peninsula College; Ashley Merscher, Sequim High School graduate, class of 2004 and Colorado College alumna, class of 2008; and Erika Van Calcar, M.S., R.D., nutritionist.
