'Original' lavender race won't bloom this summer

Carl Jackson, medical researcher and organizer of the Race for the Lavender 5k, says the race is postponed for this year.

Jackson says medical problems have kept him from being able to organize the event.

The race was staged in conjunction with the Sequim Lavender Festival from 2002-2005 and 2007, but earlier this year festival organizers opted to organize a different race during the July weekend.

Jackson had hoped to continue the race as the "The Original Race For The Lavender" and host it at the original Ward Road five-kilometer course on June 21.

Jackson says he hopes to revive the race in 2009. test
