Eagles soar past Wolves

One big inning was enough to tame the Wolves.

The Klahowya Eagles scored four runs off starter Spencer Middleton in the first inning and rode that lead to a 6-3 victory March 27.

Alex Gillis had two hits for the Wolves, who had twice as many hits (six) as the Eagles.

Jeremie Oliver had a double and run scored in the loss.

Eric Eley earned the win for Klahowya, giving up three runs in five innings.

Trojans trump Wolves

Big innings are hurting Sequim's baseball squad early.

The Olympic Trojans battered Sequim pitching for five runs in the second inning and held the Wolves to just two hits in a 9-1 Olympic League victory March 26.

Trojan Tyler Marshall went 2-for-3 and stole three bases for the Trojans as they improved to an Olympic League best 3-0. Olympic pitcher Elliott Thorsen struck out three batters in his six innings of work.

Oliver took the loss on the mound for Sequim.

N.K. wears down Sequim pitchers

Like handling a time bomb, Sequim's Gillis had the North Kitsap Vikings in control for almost five innings.

Then the Vikings blew up.

North Kitsap erupted for five runs in the fifth and six runs in the sixth to topple Sequim 12-2 in a six-inning, mercy rule-shortened Olympic League match-up Monday.

Sequim's offense stalled after Jason Baker's two-run home run in the first inning. Despite a game-high 10 walks, Gillis looked like he might get by thanks to eight Viking strikeouts. But North Kitsap had other things in mind, getting to Gillis and relievers Drew Rickerson and Kris Goss.

The Wolves committed four errors in the defeat.
