T-Wolves cap seasons with wins

Sequim Middle School's seventh- and eighth-grade varsity basketball squads finished their 2009-2010 seasons with wins against Forks on Jan. 25.

After battling to a tie after two quarters, Sequim's seventh-grade team outscored Forks 13-10 in the third quarter and 11-6 in the fourth to come away with a 33-28 victory.

The effort helped the Timberwolves (9-1) avenge their only loss of the season and hand Forks' Spartans their first loss of the campaign.

Alex Barry led the team with 12 points, sinking key free throws in the fourth quarter. Dustin Bates added eight points, while Josh McConnaughey had six blocks. Miguel Moroles had four assists.

In the nightcap, Sequim's eighth-grade team led the entire game, pulling away in the third quarter for a 45-35 victory.

The T-Wolves (6-4) got 13 points from Christian Velarde and seven points from Anthony Pinza.

Sequim's combined seventh-/eighth-grade junior varsity team fell to Forks 43-41, capping their season at 2-4.
