Olympic overpowers Sequim girls

Not without a fight.

Sequim's Wolves last week saw their 2009-2010 campaign end without a win for the second consecutive season, but not before blowing out Olympic's reserves who started the game, forcing the Trojan's top players to work for their 59-41 win on Feb. 17 in Silverdale.

Lea Hopson led the Sequim squad with 18 points and nine rebounds and Haleigh Harrison added 10 points, five rebounds, five steals and a block in defeat.

Olympic, the No. 2-ranked 3A team in the league, got 12 points from Jessica Klump and 10 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks from Samantha Thornton.

Sequim jumped out to a

17-0 run in the first quarter before Olympic switched lineups, battling back to take a 31-21 lead by halftime and 43-26 lead after three quarters.

Earlier this season, Olympic beat Sequim 56-28 in Sequim.

Amanda Bekkevar had two points and a block in her final game as a Wolf.

Hopson, a junior, led

Sequim (0-16 in league play, 0-20 overall) with 12.1 points per game this season, followed by freshmen Rylleigh Zbaraschuk (8.6 points per game) and Harrison (4.1 ppg).

Harrison led the team with 9.2 rebounds per contest and 24 total blocks shots.
