Bucs stop Wolfpack for 2A league lead

This time around, the battle for the Olympic League's top 2A spot goes to Kingston.

Two days after Sequim's Wolves ripped North Mason pitching for 11 hits and seven runs, Kingston ace Nick Torrento quieted their bats in a 7-1 decision on April 14.

Torrento had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning before Sequim's Matt Bereiter broke it up.

The Wolves led off the seventh inning with three consecutive hits but managed just the one run.

"We hit several balls hard but the defense made the plays," Sequim coach Dave Ditlefsen said.

Sequim starter Alex Gillis held the Buccaneers to one run in four innings before Kingston tacked on two in the fifth and four in the sixth off Bereiter.

Gillis struck out six and gave up five hits and three walks in four and two-thirds innings pitched.

Sequim was slated to host Klahowya on April 20 - results were unavailable at press time.

The Wolves host rival Port Angeles on April 21 and are at Bremerton on April 23. Sequim hosts a pair of Olympic League foes the week after that: Port Townsend on April 26 and league-leading North Kitsap on April 28.

Wolves win dogfight, tame Bulldogs

Down 3-0 early, the Wolves showed they had plenty of fight left.

Jeremie Oliver and Weston Royall drove in two runs each as Sequim pounced on North Mason pitching in a 7-3 home victory on April 12.

After giving up three runs in the first inning, Sequim starter Rickerson settled down and shut out the Bulldogs until the sixth.

Yamamoto was 2-for-3 with an RBI, two steals and three runs scored.
