A record-breaking race

Runners from Sequim, Klahowya and Port Townsend explode off the starting line in the 100-meter sprint on April 22. Sequim’s Anna LaBeaume, center, races to a 12.6-second finish, good enough to break the school record; however, teammate Samantha Whiteside, far right, blazes to the finish line in 12.4 seconds to secure the mark. The pair helped Sequim sweep the Olympic League meet and, two days later, take seventh overall in the 29-team Bellevue Invitational. See story, page B-4.    Sequim Gazette photo by Michael Dashiell
