Golf for Grads tourney set for May 29

Graduates are getting a boost from woods, irons and putters.

The annual Golf For Graduates Tournament is scheduled for May 29 at SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway.

The event starts with a

9 a.m. shotgun start; check-in is at 8 a.m.

The tourney is an 18-hole, four-person scramble with a twist: Event organizers auction off members of both boys and girls golf teams to play with teams' foursomes.

Cost is $50 per person or $200 per team. The fee includes range balls, 18 holes of golf, lunch, awards and prizes for hole-in-one, long drive and closest-to-pin competitions.

The event is limited to 18 teams.

Call 683-2373 for more information.

For individual players needing a team, contact Jeff Pedersen at that same number for help.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for individual holes, putting green and a hole-in-one contest. These donations are tax-deductible through the Sequim Education Foundation. Sponsors' names on signs are displayed at the tournament. Sign-up forms are available at the golf course. For more donation information, contact Alan Kowitz at askalan@olypen.com or Paul Boucher at paulgordonboucher@hot

mail.com.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Sequim High School graduation night party, the alcohol- and substance-free party for seniors following the SHS commencement on June 11.

The party was started years ago as fundraiser for local graduating seniors. For more information about the party, contact Lee Lawrence at 461-2155.
