Hoops tip-off tourney set

The Port Angeles Recreation Department is hosting the Youth Tip-off basketball tourney, set for Nov. 6-7.

The tournament features divisions for boys' and girls' teams in grades 5-12

There is a four-game guarantee. Cost is $235 per team.

Dodgeball tournament is in P.A.

Halloween Thunder Balls, a dodgeball tournament for six-person, coed teams, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Entry fee for this Port Angeles Recreation Department event is $50 per team.

Prizes go to the winning team and team with best costumes.

Participants must be 18 or older to play.

Trails Club walk

Olympic Peninsula Explorers' Fort Worden/Cappy Trails Club Walk. Sign-in 9-9:15 a.m. Oct. 23. Meet at Swain's Outdoor, 1121 Water St., Port Townsend, drive to North Beach County Park. 360-385-5861.

Volleyball league moves to Thursdays

The Peninsula Volleyball League moves to Thursday nights this year, starting with open gyms at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 at the Peninsula College gymnasium (1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.), followed by league play from November through February.

The coed, six-player-per-team indoor league is for intermediate to experienced volleyball players.

Entry fee is $200 per team with no additional player fee. Registration fees are due by Nov. 4.

Proceeds from fees support Peninsula College athletic scholarships.

Interested players are welcome to attend the open gym nights and team captains may register their squads by phoning Rick Ross at 417-6533.

Men's basketball tourney on tap

The Port Angeles Recreation Department hosts the Talking Rain Sparkling Water Tipoff men's basketball tourney, scheduled for Oct. 30-31.

The event features four-game guarantee.

Port Angeles BMX to help with food drive

The Port Angeles BMX track's final weekend of racing is Oct. 23-24.

On Oct. 23, racing is capped off by a potluck. On Oct. 24, the track is home to a food drive; racers who bring 10 cans ride for free.
