Wolves rebound, spike Redskins

It didn't take long for Sequim to erase the bad memory of a loss to North Kitsap last week.

The Wolves pounced all over visiting Port Townsend on Oct. 14, clobbering the outmatched Redskins 25-13, 25-4 and 25-4 to remain one and a-half games back of league-leading North Kitsap.

Haleigh Harrison had 13 kills and two blocks while Taylor Balkan had 30 assists, six aces and 28-of-28 serving.

Balkan had 11 serves in a row in the third game that included five aces. Jessica Lauritzen finished the second game with nine consecutive serves. She had seven kills without a hitting error.

Sequim could have used a bit of that offense two days earlier in a three-set loss in Poulsbo to North Kitsap.

The Vikings topped the Wolves 25-17, 25-12 and 25-20.

North's Nicole Weber had 17 assists and Bryana Bohl added 13 digs.

Lauritzen led Sequim with six kills, Balkan had 15 assists and Rylleigh Zbaraschuk added 14 digs.

"We did not play well at all," Sequim coach Jennie Webber Heilman said.

The Wolves were without senior Maddy Zbaraschuk, who missed both of last week's games with an ankle injury.

The Wolves (4-1 in league, 8-3 overall) were slated to take on the Port Angeles Roughriders Oct. 19 in a key league match that may decide the No. 2 playoff seed - results were unavailable at press time.

After dropping a four-set decision to Olympic earlier this season, Sequim gets a chance for revenge on Oct. 21, the final home match of the season.

The Wolves finish the regular season on Oct. 26 in Silverdale against the Klahowya Eagles.
