MLK hoops tourney set Port Angeles
Recreation Department is hosting the Martin Luther King Invite, presented by Captain T’s Custom Stuff, on Jan. 15-16. The tournament is open to boys and girls in grades 5-8. Puget Sound sport crabbing closes Jan. 2Puget Sound marine areas currently open for recreational winter crabbing will close at sunset Jan. 2, after which all sport crabbers licensed to fish for crab in the sound will have until Feb. 1 to report their winter catch. State fishing rules require that all sport crabbers submit catch reports for the winter season to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife by Feb. 1, even if they did not catch any crab.
To submit catch reports, crabbers may send their catch record card to WDFW by mail or file their report on a special webpage on the department’s licensing website. The mailing address is WDFW CRC Unit, 600 Capitol Way N., Olympia, WA 98501-1091.

SkyRidge hosts scrambleThe SkyRidge Golf Course’s Midwinter Open Three-Person Scramble is set for Saturday, Jan. 15, at the course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway. Each team must have a total index of 15.0 or higher. Call the course (683-3673) for tourney fees and more information.
P.C. starts indoor soccer leagueRegistration is open for the 2011 Peninsula College adult indoor soccer league. The five-on-five league is from Jan. 9-March 13. Cost is $35 per player or $250 per team. Applications and money must be received by Jan. 2. The league is split into three divisions: gold (competitive), black (recreational) and women’s. Elks hoops shoot setThe annual Elks Hoop Shot, for boys and girls aged 8-13, is set for Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St. The event starts with registration at 11 a.m. and the competition at noon. Lunch is provided by the club. Winners in six divisions — separate boys and girls divisions in the 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 categories — qualify to move on to the district competition.
The district event is set for Saturday, Jan. 22, also at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club. Lunch at the Sequim Elks Lodge (143 Port Williams Road) follows the district event. For more information, call 457-1478.
